Details for October 19th...

Wow, It's October! That means the 2008 Greater Boston Walk Now for Autism is quickly approaching. We are so excited for this year's big event. We've considered the feedback from last year and have made numerous changes to improve the flow of the event, space and activities, the sound system and more.

We are pleased to announce the performances of Jamie Manning and HRT this year. We have the fabulous Randy Price hosting once again. We are also honored to have guest speakers including Ann Guay of Mass Advocates and the Honorable Mayor Menino.

Directions to Suffolk Downs Racetrack:

Important Notes:

*
We are using a much better side entrance this year. Just follow the directional signs.
*
Registration/Check-in will be available at 9:00 am. The doors will open at 8:50 am. There is plenty of parking at this location so don't worry about arriving after 9:00 am.
*
All attendees must visit the Registration tables. Whether you have pre-registered online or are just showing up on event day... if you have money to turn in or if you have already submitted your donations...whatever the situation, please stop by for important information.
*
Remember that only those (individuals, team captains and team members included) who are registered online by October 13th will be eligible to win prizes. We will be drawing names from those registered online. We have a fabulous BOSE radio system, pizza for a year from Uno Chicago Grill and more.
*
In addition to more and better signage this year to direct you to the various activities, food, restrooms, etc. please stop and ask questions of our volunteer greeters. They will be in brightly colored t-shirts and will have copies of the day's agenda, site map and more.
*
We love dogs, but please understand that dogs (other than service dogs) are not permitted inside Suffolk Downs or on the racetrack.
*
Please be advised that no water bottle caps are permitted on the track itself.
*
You can turn in donations up until 12/31/2008 to go towards the 2008 Greater Boston Walk Now for Autism. You can continue to collect online and in person. Why not send out a note in your holiday cards asking for support? You can even suggest that, in lieu of gifts, family and friends could make a donation in your name to the Walk.

Last Minute FUNdraising Ideas:

A big success story: Team Captain and Walk Co-Chair Deirdre Legge coordinated a band performance on a Saturday afternoon in Quincy. With donations at the door, a silent auction, a Chinese auction and a 50/50 drawing, Deirdre's team raised more than $3,500! It was a fun afternoon filled with friends, family and the community... and a boost to the team's fundraising.

How about having a house party? Charge an "admission" donation. Or ask your local music venue. It help their business AND your fundraising.
