In partnership with PBS, YouTube has launched an initiative to let people upload videos to the site chronicling their Election Day experience. The Video Your Vote program aims to collect "massive amounts" of polling-place video to create an online library of Election Day footage. On Nov. 4, the YouTube channel dedicated to the project will offer up-to-the-minute coverage with voters contributing videos from thousands of precincts nationwide. To help ecourage video submissions, PBS and YouTube will also distribute 1,000 camcorders to nonprofit groups and local PBS stations can also capture polling place activity. Not every location will wind up on videotape, since some states and counties have restrictions against the use of recording equipment at polling sites.-- |
